In 1924, two members of the New York Times struggled to find a way to transfer books and other documents throughout Manhattan. This need created Service Messenger Co, Inc. around the same time another group in Manhattan wrestled with a similar problem and formed Airline Delivery Services (ADS) in 1932. Both companies flourished and a new market was formed for the demanding New Yorker who couldn't wait on the United States Postal Service to send or receive their packages.

Charles Chiusano Senior joined ADS in 1972 as President and CEO with four of his sons following right behind him. This sparked a new era in the company culminating in their successful buyout of the firm in 1986. Charles Senior named the company Avant Business Services based on the Italian word "Avanti" which means moving forward. At that point, Avant was poised for rapid expansion and opened one of NY's first Messenger Control Centers in 1988. After a series of acquisitions from 1990 - 1996, Service Messenger Inc., EnRoute Messenger, Jiminy Split Courier Service and ADS merged under Avant Services Corp. to create one of the largest privately held courier systems in New York City. In 2005, Avant Services acquired Choice Courier Systems in NYC and CT, offering warehousing and logistical solutions. In 2006 the company was renamed Avant Business Services to indicate our commitment to provide innovative services to businesses within NY and beyond.

Under the current ownership of Mark Chiusano, Avant has entered a new era of development with initiatives focused on Avant's internal and external operations. Consequently, we have adopted continuous quality improvement methodologies, launched numerous strategic initiatives, and made major technological investments. We have become the premier Ecommerce Delivery Service Provider for NY, NJ and CT. and look forward to our continued record paced growth.

Avant has made remarkable strides in our Messenger Control Center/Facilities Management Division. We are recognized as a leader within that field, boasting a portfolio that includes the elite of NYC's Real Estate Owners & Managers. Additionally, we not only offer courier service throughout NYC and CT, but we also offer 55,000 square feet of warehousing for ecommerce fulfillment, distribution center operations, and a host of other logistical solutions like routed distribution through New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and New England.
